Tuesday Tidbits

I know it has been a while since I have graced cousin Higgins blog.  I am such the slacker lately.  Please forgive me.

Poor Auntie Trice (Patrice) has been admitted into the hospital with an unknown illness   They think she may have caught something while she was traveling on her mission trip to the Dominican. 

We are all praying for her quick recovery.  

I think she has worms and when I have worms they give me a yummy treat that they say has medication in it and I feel all better.  Dr. Ginger’s take on the situation is give her a worm pill and all will be right with the world .

I feel really sorry for my cousin Higgies though.  I know when my Mamma was in the hospital last year I was ready for her to come home.  The others just don’t spoil you as good as Mom does.  Plus he has been left with the youngest human brother who might forget to love on him or feed him or get a crazy idea to get rid of him so he gets all the attention….Umm hold on I think I need to make a call to make sure Higgies is okay .

In other news stray dog “Matt” is still here and I think to stay.

He is still a hot rashy mess

Mamma took him to the vet and he got his shots and was put on more meds besides benedryl.  He ended up being allergic to the antibiotic Cephalexin they put him on so he had to be taken off of that.

Left was on the antibiotic and right was a day after we took him off.  Mamma says no Cephalexin for him anymore.

   Now he using a medicated shampoo and some topical’s to help control it.

We also found out the poor fellow has Heartworms so he is being treated for that as well, but with the “slow kill” method because he is so sensitive to meds we did not want to go with the strong stuff until we had exhausted other not so intense options.

Since he has got all these issues I decided I should be nice to the big horse.

Aren’t I the epitome of hospitality.  I think I deserve sainthood for this .

Tilda is warming up to him, but some days she just looks at Mom as if to say

“Please remove the ginormous black thing in the yard.  He creeps me out”

Dr. Higgins Is In The House

My mom is super duper sick.  She is also super duper hard headed when it comes to the department of going to the doctor.  Which actually confuses me, cause she will drag my butt into the vets office in a blink of an eye.  When she gets to feeling better we might need to discuss this…

Anyways, I just wanted to do a quick update to let y’all know that when mom got sick on Thursday, pretty much all normal life, ceased to exist around our house. 

It’s also noted that if not for dad stepping up and taking care of things, I am sure the house would have fallen down around us…Mom even keeps forgetting to give me snacks.  I told you she was sick…that never happens!

When she got home from the hospital yesterday, I assumed my position of taking extra good care of her.  It looks like I might be sleeping, but actually, it is my way of giving her the extra love and care that medications and doctors can’t give her.

If you don’t hear from me, just know that I am busy being Dr. Higgins and taking care of mom!

Monday Mischief!

You would not believe how many errands my mom has ran since she has been home.  Seriously, today marks a week for her getting home from leaving me and she has had something to do each and every day last week.

I was so happy to have her home that I dealt with it like the very good Chihuahua I am, but she had things to do this weekend as well?!  Her leaving every day was just to much for me to handle, I could only take so much!

I showed her!!

I went outside yesterday and rolled in all things good and smelly!  I was ripe!

No worries my friends, Victory was mine!!!  It did result in a good old fashion bath for me, BUT it was worth it!!

Mom, the mischief is back!!!!  That’ll teach you!

Sprinkle's Dog Swap

My mom has been super busy since she has got home.  Grrr.

I think today is the first day that she is not running errands…good grief! 

Anyhoo, mom is just getting around to showing you some goodies I got!!  I got to do the DogGone Dog Swap that Sprinkles Hosted and I was super excited about it!!  I was paired up with Sagira and it was super fun shopping for her!

My mom forgot to take pictures of all the goodies that I got for her, but her mom posted a super cool video of her opening her box here.

When our box arrived, I was so super excited!!

Of course mom remembers to take lots of pictures now so she can torture me!

Good grief mom, hurry up!!!  She is a slow opener!

Finally, the box is open and there is a letter!!

Now to the good stuff!!  A squeakie!!!

More toys!!  Maggie even got into the action with a soft yummy treat!!

 

As I am loving on my squeaky, Bandit is so excited that he just keeps smiling!!  We love pressies!!

The Animals Of La Cumbre

While mom was gone she took lots of pictures of different kinds of animals to show me! 

Some are very strange looking like these big cow/oxen.  I would not want to upset them!

On my mom’s day off while she was in Old Town in Santo Domingo, she found this poor dog.  He was starving to death and mom could not handle it. She was not allowed to pet the animals because of the diseases that the animals have there.   She said it was a hard rule to follow because she wanted too pet him so badly!

She looked through her bag and fed him tons of Cheese-Its.  Mom said that he ate them up.  Then as the got on the bus he wanted to follow her.  She was scared that he was going to get hit.  Hopefully, he is okay and someone will feed him!

Here is a lizard that she got a picture of.  Mom said that the picture really does not show how pretty and green he was.  Hey mom, how’d you know it was a boy???

Mom said that there were lots of chickens there!

  

A few cats also caught moms eye!

Mom said that there were lots of dogs in La Cumbre.  There were black ones…

White ones…

Black and white ones…

But she said that this little dog stole her heart while she was there.

 

On there very first day mom found this little cutie outside of a small store. 

The owners of the store fed him chicken skin all through the day, so she was always eating.  He was covered in little bugs and his skin and hair was in bad shape. 

     

Mom was so upset with how he was treated.  Some people in La Cumbre are mean to the dogs and this little puppy was being kicked at and yelled at a whole lot she said.  Mom said she could take it no longer and when someone was mean to it, she would shake her finger and say no to them. 

She also said the first two days that he didn’t have a collar on.  But when she walked into the village on the third day he had a make shift collar tied around his neck.  She is hoping that someone she that she was being nice to him and would start taking care of this little cutie!!!

 

Mom broke all the rules and could take it no longer and had to pet him.  She said that she thinks he  has never been loved on and he would just melt into her hand as she would rub his head.  Mom is such the rule breaker, but in this case I am so glad that this little one got some much needed love and attention!

         Mom said that she wanted to sneak him back into the states but she was sure she would have been caught in the airport with him.   She said that hopefully he would be there next year waiting for her and she was going to being him some treats!!

Mom Is Home!!!!

OMD, it has been the longest 8 days EVER!  I am so happy to report that my mom touched down safely in Nashville at little after midnight last night!

Of course, I was there to pick her up!  She snapped this picture of me with her phone (that’s why it blurry) but when she called my name, I was about to squirm out of dads arms to get to her!!!

I have been smiling ever since!  BOL!!!

There is so much she wants to share with you, but that will have to wait until after mom and Higgins Bonding time!!!

I have missed her so much, and all of y’all as well!
